Creative Team Roles
Lighting Designer
Verge Theater welcomes creative individuals with experience in light design. As a Lighting Designer, you’ll collaborate closely with our production directors to create the visual elements that bring our shows to life. While experience in light design is essential, we’ll provide training on our specific equipment.
This role comes with a minimal budget for materials and modest compensation for your time. Come design a lighting plot for our intimate space and be part of our creative team!
Lighting Technician
This is the perfect opportunity for anyone interested in learning the technical side of theater. We’ll train you on our lightboard, and you’ll get to work alongside a fantastic crew of creatives, all while being part of an incredible production.
For Mainstage productions, the typical commitment includes 9 performances and 3–4 tech/dress rehearsals.
Sound Designer
Verge Theater is known for producing contemporary, edgy material that challenges minds and touches hearts. Music and audio artistry play a crucial role in creating an immersive, stimulating experience for our audiences. We are seeking creative sound designers with a broad musical taste, a keen sense of timing, and a passion for theater.

Sound Technician
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the technical side of theater. As a Sound Technician, you’ll manage sound cues, balance microphones and backing tracks, and sometimes even work with a live band! This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a keen ear for sound.
No prior experience with our equipment is necessary—training will be provided. The typical commitment includes 9 productions, preceded by 3–4 tech/dress rehearsals.
costume Designer
Verge Theater is always seeking creative individuals with a flair for fashion design and a strong knowledge of fashion history. We’ve built our reputation by producing edgy, contemporary material that challenges minds and touches hearts—a style we proudly call "Vergy." We constantly think outside the box and explore unconventional approaches to theater.
As a costume designer, you’ll collaborate closely with the production director to bring our unique productions to life. Verge provides a minimal budget for materials and offers modest compensation for your time.
Seamstress
Are you talented with a sewing machine and passionate about community theater? This is the perfect opportunity to put your skills to use while giving back to a wonderful theatrical community. As a seamstress, you’ll work closely with the production costume designer to source, alter, and build all the costume pieces needed for the show.
Prop Designer
At Verge Theater, our Prop Designers use common craft materials to create realistic replicas of everyday items—or source them locally if possible! Known for pushing limits and challenging minds, Verge embraces out-of-the-box thinking and the unconventional. Our production design reflects this bold theatrical style.
As a Prop Designer, you’ll collaborate closely with the Production Director and Set Designer to bring their creative vision to life on stage. If you’re passionate about theater arts and eager to work with a wild band of creatives, we’ve got a place for you! mastor crafter
This is the perfect opportunity for a creative individual who wants to be part of a vibrant community but may not have the time, energy, or desire to commit to a full production schedule. As a Crafter, you’ll assist Prop Designers by sourcing and/or building handheld props and small set pieces for the production.
scenic designer
Scenic Designers at Verge Theater are responsible for creating the imaginative worlds in which our productions come to life. This role requires a creative individual who is well-versed in common building materials and has a knack for using everyday craft items in innovative ways. Scenic Designers collaborate closely with the Production Director and Prop Designer to bring the physical world to life around our performers.
