Volunteer Roles Needed
Box office
Verge Theater currently uses Eventbrite for ticketing. All advance ticket sales are listed on a will-call list, which our Box Office Volunteers use to greet and check in guests. Volunteers also assist with seating, provide show programs, and manage the wait-list when necessary. As the first faces our guests see, this role requires a detail-oriented, people-focused individual who thrives on human connection.
Box Office Volunteers work closely with the Stage Manager and Production Manager. In return for your time, you’ll receive two free tickets to the performance or, if preferred, volunteer hours can be exchanged for class hours (8 hours of volunteering = one 8-week class session). Volunteers typically arrive 30 minutes before house opening, handle minimal setup and teardown, and then are free to enjoy the show!
Concessions & Ticket Sales
We’re looking for detail-oriented individuals who are comfortable handling money to assist as Concessions & Ticket Sales Volunteers. In this role, you’ll sell remaining tickets to walk-in guests, as well as concessions, using our Square POS system to process transactions and make correct change when necessary.
As part of the Front-of-House team, you’ll work closely with the Stage Manager and Production Manager. In appreciation for your time, you’ll receive two free tickets to the performance or can exchange your volunteer hours for class hours (8 hours of volunteering = one 8-week class session). Volunteers typically arrive 30 minutes before house opening, with minimal setup and teardown required. Afterward, you’re welcome to enjoy the show with your guest!
Please Note: If the production includes an intermission, concessions will be sold during that time as well.
Saturday Gallery Attendant
Verge is a Gallery by Day ~ Theater by Night, featuring up to six fine artists annually. This is a perfect opportunity for art lovers who need a quiet place to work with an internet connection and enjoy engaging with the community. Our Gallery by Day is open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with shifts divided into two, two-hour slots.
As a Gallery volunteer, you’ll engage in thoughtful conversations with guests about our current artist and their work, provide basic information on upcoming events, direct guests to more resources about Verge Theater, and handle Gallery sales. We will train you on our POS system and ensure you have all the information needed to confidently answer questions.
As a thank you for your time, all volunteers are invited to attend a Verge production as our guest or exchange volunteer hours for class hours.
